Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
